Grant Abney - Managing Partner
Certified: CBCP, LEED/BD+C, NGBS, RESNET
Grant began his career in sustainability while studying for a degree in International Business at St.Edward’s University. While in school, he traveled the country as an energy auditor for the Department of Energy. He was tasked with improving the efficiency and durability of thousands of existing homes and apartments for low-income families. During this time, he learned the common problems associated with buildings and the improvement that make a tangible impact on the performance of the building. Grant partnered with HD Perkins at Texas Energy Systems (TES) with the mission of bringing the knowledge of sustainability to the new construction sector. Since then, TES has focused on proving sustainable development and green building consulting to multifamily and commercial clients who value the many benefits of high performance buildings; creating buildings that are healthy, sustainable and resource efficient is what drives our company forward every day. Grant is fortunate to have been raised in Austin along with is his wife Katie who runs a successful psychotherapy practice in Westlake. He enjoys spending time in the outdoors, reading, cooking and spending good times with good friends.

H.D. Perkins - Director of Business Development
Mr. Perkins is a home grown Austinite and attended the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business. He is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Texas and a trained Building Performance Analyst and Rater. Understanding that energy consumption is one of the largest operating expenses for buildings and that buildings account for more energy consumption than any other sector in the United States, H.D.’s approach for helping people find solutions for reducing operating expenses and increasing building system durability led him to found Texas Energy Systems in 2009. He partnered with Grant Abney shortly after. Our goal is to add value and quality assurance for owner’s, designers’, developers’, and builders’, contractors’ processes to ensure building performance meets architectural and engineering design. Our services focus on improving indoor air quality, energy efficiency, building operating costs and affordability.
